Writer B. Clay Moore stepped in to create a fill-in issue of DC Comics’ Doc Savage #5, which will hit local comic shops in August. In a recent blog post Moore expressed enthusiasm for the project. “Obviously, it was lots of fun to be involved in the First Wave universe, and I’m hopeful it won’t be the last time I get to do so.” The issue was solicited with a story by a different writer, so anyone who follows Moore likely missed getting it pre-ordered.

Ande Parks featured at gallery opening
Ande Parks will be a featured speaker at the opening events of an art gallery, The Art Lab, in Dodge City, Kansas. According to an article by Davina Jamison at HutchNews.Com, Parks will discuss how he developed his graphic novel Capote in Kansas.
Parks’ presentation will be part of a multi-day event, “Read All Over,” which will feature art by area artists interpreting print media such as comic books, pulp novels and graphic novels. The Art Lab opening is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 18, and Parks’ presentation will be at 7 p.m. June 19. The Art Lab is located at 2011 W. Steven Sanders signing at Hurley’s Heroes
Artist Steven Sanders will be signing Wednesday, June 23rd at Hurley’s Heroes in Joplin. The trade paperback of his work on Marvel’s X-MEN: S.W.O.R.D.: No Time to Breathe will be released that day. Steven is also the artist of Five Fists of Science, and Thunder Road. He’ll be in the store all day.
This is the first signing at Hurley’s new location: 1515 W 10th, Suite C, Joplin, Missouri.
